Carol Vogel reports in the New York Times that after an eight-month search, the Dia Art Foundation has appointed Jeffrey Weiss as its new director. Weiss is currently head of the department of modern and contemporary art at the National Gallery of Art. “Now that we have a director, our first priority is to find a site in New York and to develop our program there,” Nathalie de Gunzburg, Dia’s board chairwoman, said in a telephone interview yesterday. “Dia represents something very meaningful to me, as much as an idea as a place for art to thrive on its own terms,” Mr. Weiss said. “I have a lot of ideas that are relevant to Dia’s historical identity,” he added.
