John Hatfield will be the new executive director of Socrates Sculpture Park, reports Artinfo. Hatfield, who was formerly the New Museum’s deputy director, will begin his new post a week from today, and will oversee several new programs including an architectural residency and an online visual archive of the park’s exhibitions and artists. Hatfield has also previously worked as assistant vice president for memorial, cultural, and civic programs at the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. He will succeed Alyson Baker, who departed last June to direct the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.
Artist Mark di Suvero, founder of the sculpture park, said in a statement that he was “thrilled to have John Hatfield join the outer space-time visionary world of Socrates.”
