KAROL WIGHT LEAVES GETTY FOR CORNING MUSEUM OF GLASS

Karol Wight, the curator of antiquities at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, today announced she has accepted a position as director of the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, which will commence in August. Randy Kennedy notes in his report for the New York Times that Wight was instrumental in the 2006 reopening of the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades, California and that Wight has spent her entire professional career at the museum. Wight says she has accepted the position at the Corning Museum “not only because of the museum’s exceptional collections, [but also] because of its innovative public programs, on site and in the field, that help bring the art of glass to life.”
