KIMSOOJA WINS $25,000 GRANT; ARTISTS SELECTED FOR SINGAPORE’S VENICE PAVILION

On January 26, the Foundation for Contemporary Arts announced is 2007 grants to individuals. Ten grants of $25,000 each were awarded to artists in the United States and abroad, among them the New York–based Korean artist Kimsooja, the sole visual arts recipient. Elsewhere, Channelnewsasia.com reports that Singapore has selected a theme for its Venice Biennale pavilion, “Figments, Fictions, and Fantasies,” and four artists: Vincent Leow, Jason Lim, Zulkifle Mahmod, and Tang Duwu. The artists were selected by a panel comprising government officials and representatives from the arts community.
