The Knoxville Museum of Art has received a $2.5 million gift from the Aslan Foundation to support the museum’s twenty-fifth anniversary, reports Susan Alexander of Knoxville News Sentinel. The donation will help fund renovations to the museum and its grounds, increase its endowment, and establish the museum’s first-ever art acquisition fund. The KMA’s anniversary campaign is the museum’s first major fundraising effort since the Clayton Building opened in 1990 in World’s Fair Park. More than fifty donors have committed $2.3 million in addition to the Aslan Foundation gift. The museum will close in September for renovations and reopen in November 2013.
