The board of trustees of the New York Academy of Art has announced that David Kratz will become the academy’s new president on June 3. Eileen Guggenheim, board chairman, said, “After a thorough search and input from all of the academy’s constituencies––trustees, faculty, alumni, and students––we felt that Kratz was the ideal candidate for the position.” Kratz is a painter who lives and works in New York and who graduated from the academy in 2008. Since that time, he has served as a trustee of the school with a particular focus on the academy’s communications and marketing. Prior to attending the academy, Kratz was the CEO of Magnet Communications. Before starting his public-relations business, he received a JD from the Boston University School of Law in 1983 and a BA from Dartmouth College in 1979.
