Laura Hyatt Named Executive Director of Los Angeles Nomadic Division

The Los Angeles Nomadic Division (LAND), a nonprofit committed to commissioning site-specific public art projects, has announced the appointment of Laura Hyatt as its new executive director. Hyatt returns to LAND, where she was a founding staff member in 2010, from the Hammer Museum, where she has worked in development roles since 2016.

Prior to joining the Hammer, Hyatt served as exhibition assistant, director of development, and associate director of LAND, where she worked closely with its founding director and curator, Shamim Momin, on a number of exhibitions, including the “Manifest Destiny Billboard Project” (2015), “Painting in Place” (2013), and Fritz Haeg’s “Wildflowering LA” (2013).

“Laura has an incredible amount of knowledge about the organization and its mission, and coupled with her experience at the Hammer Museum, she is the ideal person to be at the helm of LAND as it enters an exciting new era of growth,” LAND’s board president, Kelsey Lee Offield, said in a statement.

While at the helm of the organization, Hyatt will aim to bring in different curatorial voices to reflect the multiplicity of Los Angeles and will continue to partner with community-based organizations to help artists and curators realize projects in unconventional settings.
