The MAP Fund, administered by Creative Capital, has just released its list of grant recipients for 2016 within the realms of contemporary theater and performing arts. Over $1 million will be given to support thirty-six new works. The MAP grants range from $10,000 to $40,000 each.
Some of the artists being awarded are Dread Scott for “Slave Rebellion Reenactment,” sponsored by Fractured Atlas; Taylor Mac and Niegel Smith’s “A 24-Decade History Of Popular Music,” for Saint Ann’s Warehouse; Christopher Chen’s “Port City,” for the American Conservatory Theater; Jawole Willa Jo Zollar’s “SCAT!,” for Urban Bush Women; and Jen Rosenblit’s “Swivel Spot,” for the Kitchen.
