Marian Goodman to Open London Space

Marian Goodman will open a new space in London’s Mayfair district, joining a number of American galleries—Gagosian, Pace, Hauser & Wirth, Michael Werner, and David Zwirner—that have one if not two sites in the high-end neighborhood, reports Carol Vogel of the New York Times. In addition to her New York space, Goodman also has a gallery in Paris. Vogel notes that many dealers now feel it is necessary to have a presence in Mayfair, which is full of wealthy residents from places like Russia, China, and the Middle East. Said Goodman: “We’re not out to conquer the universe like some of the men. We’re really doing this for our artists, because a lot of them don’t show in London. Now seems to be the right time.”
