MARINA ABRAMOVIC’S NEW ARTS CENTER

Carol Vogel reports in the New York Times that Marina Abramovic is creating an arts center in her parents’ home country, Montenegro. The venue, to be called Marina Abramovic Community Center Obod, will be housed in a former refrigerator factory on the outskirts of the city of Cetinje. Abramovic will carry out the project in collaboration with the minister of culture of Montenegro, Branislav Micunovic. “I am hoping to create something like Andy Warhol’s Factory, but without the drugs,” said Abramovic. “To create a new reality, new art.”
