MATS STJERNSTEDT TO CURATE NORDIC PAVILION AT THE 57TH VENICE BIENNALE

Mats Stjernstedt will be curating Norway, Sweden, and Finland’s joint exhibition for the Nordic Pavilion at the fifty-seventh Venice Biennale. Kunstnernes Hus’s artistic director, Stjernstedt was appointed to the position by Sweden’s Moderna Museet, which is the commissioner for next year’s biennale. The three countries each take turns as principal commissioner.

Stjernstedt also led Index – the Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation, Stockholm, from 2001 to 2009. Under his leadership, the Kunstnernes Hus has presented shows by Hans-Peter Feldmann, João Maria Gusmão and Pedro Paiva, and David Lamelas among others.
