Matthew Day Jackson to Open Nonprofit Art Space

Matthew Day Jackson plans to open his own nonprofit exhibition space in New York, reports Julia Halperin of the Art Newspaper. The two-hundred-square-foot gallery, Bunker259, will be entirely financed by Jackson, who will run the space with his wife, Laura Seymour. Located on the ground floor of their home in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, it is set to open September 8, 2013, with the inaugural exhibition, “Protean,” which will pair a large-scale drawing by Sandra Allen with a text about the artist’s work by Italian poet and curator, Mario Diacono.
