The New York Times reports that choreographer Merce Cunningham has won the third annual Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award. The award, which carries a prize of twenty-five thousand dollars, will be presented at the season-opening gala on June 20. According to the Boston Globe_, the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival will also be celebrating the choreographer’s ninetieth birthday this summer with a week-long engagement encompassing performances by his renowned company (July 22–26), two PillowTalks, and an exhibition focusing on Cunningham’s ground-breaking collaborations with visual artists. In addition, an interview with Cunningham, who first performed at Jacob’s Pillow in 1955, is included in a documentary that the festival is producing.
