Miart Fair Names Alessandro Rabottini Artistic Director

Miart announced today that Alessandro Rabottini has been appointed the new artistic director of the Milan contemporary and modern art fair.

“With the project of Miart 2017 I hope to continue to develop the context with which the fair, at this point, is identified: a place of quality and discovery, a crossroads of dialogues between history and experimentation, visual art and design, tradition and innovation,” Rabottini said.

The curator and art critic has worked on the Miart fair for four years. Under director Vincenzo de Bellis, Rabottini served as a curatorial coordinator from 2013 to 2015 and as the deputy director of the 2016 edition. He previously worked as the chief curator of the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Bergamo for over a decade and was the curator at large at the Museum of Contemporary Art Donnaregina of Naples from 2012 to 2015. His writings have been featured in magazines such as Flash Art, Frieze, Kaleidoscope, MAP Magazine, Modern Painters, and Mousse.

The twenty-second edition of the fair will be held from March 31 to April 2, 2017.
