The national artists’ advocacy organization United States Artists announced today the recipients of fifty USA Fellowship grants for artistic excellence, each worth fifty thousand dollars. Ten visual artists working in a wide range of media and at various stages of their careers will be honored this evening at a celebration at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, alongside other winners in the performing and literary arts. The ten visual-arts award recipients are Terry Adkins, Michael Asher, Andrea Bowers, Deanna Dikeman, Barkley L. Hendricks, Tehching Hsieh, Rodney McMillian, Martha Rosler, Catherine Sullivan, and Kara Walker. This is the third year of the USA Fellows program, bringing the total funds awarded directly to working artists to $7.5 million.
