Mischa Kuball Awarded 2016 German Light Art Award

The German artist Mischa Kuball will receive the German Light Art Award 2016, given by the Robert Simon Art Foundation and endowed with about $11,043. The award ceremony will be held this January at the Art Museum Celle, housing one of the largest light art collections in Germany.

Kuball was born in 1959 in Düsseldorf and has been making installations with light in public and institutional spaces since 1984. He was a visiting professor at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig from 1999 to 2000, and from 2004 to 2008 he also taught media art at the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe. Since 2007, he has been a professor of media art at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.
