MOMA TO BUY AMERICAN FOLK ART MUSEUM BUILDING

The New York Times’s Kate Taylor reports that New York’s Museum of Modern Art will purchase the building belonging to the American Folk Art Museum on West Fifty-third Street, adjacent to MoMA. MoMA plans to expand, though no plans have yet been revealed. The folk art museum will continue to operate in its 5,000-square-foot branch at Lincoln Square. Neither MoMA nor the folk art museum would say how much was being paid for the building, though it was noted that it was at least enough to retire the folk art museum’s debt.
