The third edition of the Istanbul-based Moving Image fair has been canceled, writes Gareth Harris of the Art Newspaper.
Apparently, security issues had played a part in calling off the fair. This follows in the wake of the Art International fair getting shut down, closed for similar reasons. The cofounders of Moving Image, Murat Orozobekov and Edward Winkleman, said “With news of the postponement of Art International, and our close relationship with them and the Haliç Congress Centre, we don’t believe it makes sense for us to attempt to present Moving Image on its own.”
Next year’s iteration of the fair will coincide with the Fifteenth Istanbul Biennial, put together by the artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset.
