Nathaniel Mellors Wins 2014 Contemporary Art Society Annual Award

British artist Nathaniel Mellors has won the Contemporary Art Society Annual Award for 2014 in partnership with in partnership with the Harris Museum and Art Gallery. The forty-thousand-pound prize, supported by the Sfumato Foundation and presented this year by Turner Prize-winning artist Martin Creed, provides funds to a UK-based museum or public gallery to work with an artist of their choice to commission a new work that will become a part of the museum’s permanent collection. Mellors will create a film for an exhibition at the Harris on the themes of Samuel Beckett and theater of the absurd. Mellors has most recently had solo exhibitions at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London; De Hallen, Haarlem; and the Stedelijk Museum Bureau in Amsterdam.
