The National: New Australian Art Biennial Announces Curators for Second Edition

The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA), the Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW), and Carriageworks have announced the curators for the second edition of the National: New Australian Art biennial, writes Kayo Chang Black of Art Asia Pacific. They are Clothilde Bullen, Isobel Parker Philip, Anna Davis, and Daniel Mudie Cunningham. “The collaborative approach to The National enables our three institutions to profile the expertise of each individual curator,” said the MCA’s director, Elizabeth Ann Macgregor. “The 2019 iteration will be as curatorially ambitious and innovative as the 2017 exhibition, which was very well received by artists and the public.”

Bullen is a curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander collections and exhibitions at the MCA. Philip is a curator of photography at the AGNSW. And Davis is a curator at the MCA, while Cunningham is Carriageworks’ senior curator of visual arts. The biennial will be showcased across Carriageworks, the MCA, and the AGNSW, and is scheduled to open on March 30, 2019.
