Steven Litt reports in the Cleveland Plain-Dealer_ that the Cleveland Museum of Art has appointed Barbara Tannenbaum as its new curator of photography. Tannenbaum comes from the Akron Art Museum, where she has served as director of curatorial affairs. Tannenbaum “worked through renovation and expansion of the Akron museum,” according to Cleveland’s chief curator C. Griffith Mann, who sees this experience as an asset. “She’s been part of a museum transformation and knows about the ups and downs of living on the other side of that,” Mann said. In 1985, Tannenbaum joined Akron as chief curator, and has held teaching positions at Oberlin College; the University of Wyoming, Laramie; and the University of Illinois, Chicago.
