The director of the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Harry Philbrick, has announced the appointment of Mónica Ramírez-Montagut as curator. Philbrick stated, “Monica brings a great range of attributes to the position. In addition to her extensive academic background and international exhibitions experience, she is hardworking, enthusiastic, and familiar with the museum.” Ramírez-Montagut, an architect, holds a master’s degree in art and architecture and a Ph.D. in theory and the history of art and architecture. She joins the Aldrich from the Solomon R. Guggenheim in New York City, where she had served as assistant curator of architecture since 2006. Ramírez-Montagut’s recent international curatorial projects include “Cai Guo Qiang: I Want to Believe,” 2008, and “Zaha Hadid,” 2006, which received the second-place award for best architecture or design show from the AICA.

In other news, the Wexner Center for the Arts announced today the appointment of two new members of its curatorial team in the exhibitions department: Catharina Manchanda, previously curator at Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington University in Saint Louis, is the new senior curator; and Christopher Bedford, currently assistant curator in the department of contemporary art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, has been named curator. Manchanda began her tenure with the center earlier this month, and Bedford will be joining the team in October. “We’re thrilled to welcome this dynamic duo to the Wexner Center to help shape its programs over the next several years,” says Wexner Center director Sherri Geldin. “Each brings keen creative and intellectual gifts to the center.”
