The nonprofit Artis has received $1,000,000 from an anonymous donor, according to Artnews’s John Chiaverina.
Artis was created to raise public awareness of contemporary visual art from Israel. The group has presented public programming in collaboration with institutions ranging from MoMA in New York to Tate Modern in London.
The donor’s gift will fund a new Tel Aviv site, as well as staff salaries, increasing the annual budget to $1 million. With its newfound funds, the organization will also be able to dole out up to $250,000 a year in grants.
