Palm Springs Art Museum Names New Director

The Palm Springs Art Museum announced last Friday that Elizabeth Armstrong will be its new executive director, reports David Ng at the Los Angeles Times. Armstrong, who starts at her new post in January, is currently at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, where she holds the title of founding curator of contemporary art, after joining the institution in 2008. Prior to that, Armstrong was the acting director and chief curator at the Orange County Museum of Art, where she created the California Biennial and organized such exhibitions as “Birth of the Cool: California Art.” She has also served as senior curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, and was a curator at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis for fourteen years.
