Paris Photo Los Angeles Discontinued and Upcoming Edition of FIAC Los Angeles Canceled

After three editions of Paris Photo Los Angeles, the fair’s fourth edition—scheduled to take place at Paramount Studios between April 29 and May 1, 2016—has been canceled and plans for a Los Angeles edition of the FIAC fair have also been tossed.

Citing a lacking presence of local collectors at fairs there, Jean-Daniel Compain—the senior vice president of the culture, luxury, and leisure division at fair organizers Reed Exhibitions France—said of the decision: “…the absence of a mature market in terms of art fairs of this scale and scope has driven us to make this difficult decision. We are extremely grateful for the support that we have received since the launch of Paris Photo in Los Angeles, and during the research and development phases of FIAC LA.”

This comes after the original Parisian edition of the fair was forced to close early due to last November’s terrorist attack in the city. The next edition of Paris Photo, its twentieth, will take place at the Grand Palais in Paris from November 10-13, 2016.
