After battling cancer for ten years, artist Paul Edlin passed away on Saturday from what was apparently a heart attack. Edlin was perhaps best known for making collages from tiny fragments of postage stamps. Over the past ten years, he had many solo exhibitions at galleries and his art was also presented in many museums, culminating with a 2007 solo show at Colgate University’s Longyear Museum. His works are part of collections at Collection de l’Art Brut in Lausanne and Musée de la Communication in Bern. Edlin’s art was partly the reason that dealer Andrew Edlin, Paul’s nephew, founded Andrew Edlin Gallery, according to a gallery announcement.
