Phillips Hires Three from Christie’s

Three former employees of Christie’s auction house have been hired by the rival house of Phillips, reports Brian Boucher at Artnet. The three hires are Jean-Paul Engelen, Hugues Joffre, and the former deputy chairman of postwar and contemporary art at Christie’s New York, Robert Manley. This comes after recent solid sales for the New York-based auction company.

Engelen is a former head of public art at the Qatar Museums, a post he occupied since 2011, and also previously worked for Christie’s in London and New York for sixteen years. Joffre left Christie’s last spring where he specialized in nineteenth and twentieth century art.
