Phyllida Barlow is the winner of the 2012 Aachen Art Prize, notes
Artinfo. The award, given to a fine artist every two years, comes with a cash prize of thirteen thousand dollars as well as a solo show at the Ludwig Forum for International Art. Born in 1944 in Newcastle, England, Barlow has exhibited at venues ranging from the Baltic Center for Contemporary Art to the Kunstmuseum Basel. She was professor of fine art and director of undergraduate studies at the Slade School of Art. Previous winners of the Aachen Art Prize include Pawel Althamer (2010), Aernout Mik (2008), and Roman Signer (2006).
