Pierre Huyghe Wins 2015 Kurt Schwitters Award

French artist Pierre Huyghe is the 2015 recipient of the Kurt Schwitters Award.

This year marks the tenth edition of the award, which comes with around $28,000, and which will be given out at the end of the year. To celebrate, the Sprengel Museum Hannover will present a solo exhibition of the artist.

Huyghe has previously received the special award from the panel for the French Pavillon at the Venice Biennale in 2001, the Hugo Boss Prize at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2002, the Smithsonian Museum’s Contemporary Artist Award in 2010, and the Roswitha Haftmann Award in Zurich in 2013.

Huyghe is also currently the subject of a retrospective at LACMA in Los Angeles through February 22, 2015.
