Portland Art Museum Names New Modern and Contemporary Art Curator

The Portland Art Museum has hired a new curator of modern and contemporary art: Sara Krajewski. Joseph Gallivan reports for the Portland Tribune that Krajewski was formerly curator at the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle, and more recently director of the Institute of Visual Arts galleries at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. As an Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts curatorial fellow, she’s done research on transdisciplinary art and performance. She’s also served on the curatorial staff at the Harvard University Art Museum.

Starting on August 31, as the Robert and Mercedes Eichholz Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, Krajewski’ll be responsible for growing the museum’s collection. “I met Sara nearly twenty years ago,” said Brian Ferriso, the Portland Art Museum’s director. “I was immediately impressed with her knowledge and passion for modern and contemporary art then, and my high regard for her talents has increased.”
