PRADA AND GAGOSIAN GIFT SUPPORTS RESTORATION OF LIGHTNING FIELD

The Dia Art Foundation has announced that Miuccia Prada and Larry Gagosian have made a leadership donation that will support the restoration of Walter de Maria’s Lightning Field. Though the amount of Prada and Gagosian’s gift has not been announced, it will enable the first significant preservation treatment of the piece in its thirty-five-year history. The restoration process will take place over the course of four months in 2013. Said Prada, “The Lightning Field is one of the most powerful art works I know. The visit of this extraordinary place had a huge impact on me, and I am glad that years later I was able to spend some time with Walter De Maria when he prepared his exhibition at the Prada Foundation in Milan.”
