The New York 2010 PULSE Prize winner was announced yesterday as Johanna Unzueta, presented by RJ Fine Arts. Unzueta’s winning booth presentation, Transition, uses handmade, sculptural elements formed from felt that mimic the appearance of corrugated metal and pipes and recalls the improvised and patched structures that can be found in industrial urban areas. Unzueta received a twenty-five-hundred-dollar cash grant and the opportunity to design a limited-edition PULSE tote bag for later editions of the fair. The two runners up for the PULSE Prize this edition were Laurent Cratse (Galerie SAS) and Megan Whitmarsh (Michael Rosenthal).
