Richard Phillips Joins Dallas Contemporary’s Board
Artist Richard Phillips has been elected to the board of directors of the Dallas Contemporary, a noncollecting art museum founded in 1978.
Phillips is known for large-scale paintings that draw from portraiture and play with fashion and pop-culture imagery. His work has appeared in the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Tate Modern, London; the White Cube Gallery, London; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, among other institutions.
Peter Doroshenko, executive director of Dallas Contemporary, said: “As part of our institutional focus of commissioning new work for exhibitions and placing artists at the forefront of our mission, we are actively engaging new leaders in art and business outside of Dallas.”
