The Ringling Receives Major Gift in Support of Its Center for Asian Art

The Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida, announced that it has received a major gift from the Ting Tsung and Wei Fong Chao Foundation. While the amount was not disclosed, the donation will establish an endowment for acquisitions and will fund the exhibition program at the institution’s 25,000-square-foot Center for Asian Art, which opened in 2016. In recognition of the gift, the museum will rename the venue the Ting Tsung and Wei Fong Chao Center for Asian Art.

“Through this extraordinary gift and previous critical support of the Ringling’s Asian art initiatives, the Ting Tsung and Wei Fong Chao Foundation elevates our ability to make an even greater impact and foster cultural connections with visitors and scholars in Florida and around the world,” the Ringling’s executive director, Steven High, said in a statement.

The Texas-based foundation’s gift was made in support of the museum’s current $100 million comprehensive campaign, called“The Ringling Inspires: Honoring the Legacy and Building for the Future.” Previous donations from the organization include funds for a new 125-seat programming space and the Ting Tsung and Wei Fong Chao Foundation Gallery.
