The secretary general of Italy’s ministry of culture, Giuseppe Proietti, is leaving his position, reports the Art Newspaper. Roberto Cecchi will be his replacement. Cecchi was trained as a conservation architect and in 1980 entered the superintendency for architecture. From 1997 to 2001, he was in charge of the “environmental and architectural assets” of Venice, after which he left for Rome to head one of its directorate-generals. He will also collaborate with the Italian government’s specially appointed director-general for valorizzazione, Mario Resca, in his new position.
