Salt Lake Art Center is to be renamed the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, effective January 1, 2012, reports Glen Warchol of the Salt Lake Tribune. Executive director Adam Price said that the new name is “more in tune with the direction of the center, which since the mid-1990s has grown far beyond art classes and local art exhibitions into a museum that shows cutting-edge contemporary art.”
Warchol also adds that the center plans to announce a new senior curator in mid-January to replace former senior curator Micol Hebron. Though Hebron returned to Los Angeles after barely a year at the center, she will continue to serve “indefinitely as long-distance chief curator.”
