SAN FRANCISCO’S ASIAN ART MUSEUM NAMES NEW CURATOR OF JAPANESE ART

The San Francisco Sentinel reports that Dr. Laura Allen has been named the new curator of Japanese art at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. A former assistant professor of Japanese art at the University of California in Irvine, Allen was most recently adjunct professor of Asian art at the University of San Francisco. She has also taught at Stanford and UC Berkeley. Said Jay Xu, director of the museum, “Laura Allen’s unique combination of teaching skills, scholarly publication, and curatorial experiences have provided her the kind of intellectual innovation needed to fulfill the museum’s vision to engage and inspire new and broader audiences.”
