Sarah Kennel Named Curator of Photography at Peabody Essex Museum

Sarah Kennel has been hired by the Peabody Essex Museum as its new curator of photography, reports Shelley A. Sackett for the Salem Gazette. A curator at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC for the past nine years, she helped oversee its permanent collection and manage its exhibition programming.

Speaking about the Peabody’s sprawling 800,000-piece photography collection, Kennel said she was “intrigued by such a rich and unusual collection that has been formed so early, relative to other photography collections, and yet remains to be fully explored.”
