SARASOTA MUSEUM OF ART NAMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Anne-Marie Russell, executive director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tucson, Arizona, has been named executive director for the Sarasota Museum of Art, reports the Herald Tribune’s Susan Rife.

Russell has served at the Tucson museum for over a decade, managing the opening of its 30,000-square-foot facility downtown.

Board president Wendy Surkis said, “I feel that Anne-Marie is a complete package of talent and personality. With the fact that she has art museum management, administration, curatorial, and leadership expertise, that’s a very strong individual to take the leadership role at SMOA.”

The museum, which operates as part of Ringling College, completed a twenty-two-million-dollar capital and endowment campaign last spring, and will reopen its doors next year, after an interior and exterior renovation which began in 2014 has been completed.
