The Vilcek Foundation has announced that architect, urban planner, theorist, and Artforum contributor Denise Scott Brown has been selected to receive one of two 2007 Vilcek Foundation Prizes, given annually to foreign-born individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to US society in the areas of arts, the humanities, and biomedical research. Vilcek Foundation Prize winners receive a fifty-thousand-dollar cash award and a trophy created by designer Stefan Sagmeister. Elsewhere, ArtXWorld reports that Mike Fitzpatrick, director and curator of the Limerick City Art Gallery and Ireland’s pavilion commissioner for the 2007 Venice Biennale, has selected artist Gerard Byrne to represent the country this summer.
