Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art’s Director Steps Down

Timothy Rodgers, director of the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, has revealed that he is resigning this month after six years on the job, reports The Republic's Kerry Lengel.

Associate director Sara Cochran has been named interim director, but apparently the museum, so far, is not organizing a search for a curator: Cochran's position may be permanent.

Rodgers oversaw the creation of the SMoCA Lounge, a performance venue inside the museum, and with his supervision, the museum brought in a record of nearly 50,000 visitors during the 2013 through 2014 season. Lengel notes that Rodgers' departure is the latest leadership change among museums in the region: New directors took up jobs at Phoenix Art Museum and the Heard Museum earlier this year.
