SHARON GERSTEN LUCKMAN STEPPING DOWN FROM ALVIN AILEY

Sharon Gersten Luckman, executive director of the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, will be stepping down next year. Luckman, sixty-six, has been working in the position for sixteen years. Robin Pogrebin of the New York Times reports Luckman saying, “It’s time to turn over the reins. I want to have some new challenge, probably in management.” During her time with the company Luckman oversaw its development, including that of the Ailey School, as well as the creation of the Joan Weill Center for Dance on West Fifty-fifth Street.
