The Guardian‘s Hugh Muir reports that demonstrators led by Tate director Sir Nicholas Serota took to the streets yesterday to protest plans for a twenty-story luxury apartment building fifty meters from Tate Modern. Sir Nicholas said that the plans had provoked outrage among residents of London’s Bankside neighborhood, who feel that it will blight the area. The project, which developers initially wanted to call “Tate Tower,” may be challenged in the courts.
