SIX ARTISTS NOMINATED FOR NEXT FOURTH PLINTH COMMISSION IN LONDON

Mere weeks after Thomas Schütte’s Model for a Hotel 2007 was unveiled, the short list of artists for the next Four Plinth commission in Trafalgar Square was announced today by the Greater London Authority. The artists are Jeremy Deller, Tracey Emin, Antony Gormley, Anish Kapoor, Yinka Shonibare, and Bob and Roberta Smith. The six artists have been commissioned to produce a maquette of their proposed work, and the models will go on show in the Annenberg Court at the National Gallery from January 8. The selected artist is due to be announced by the Mayor of London in 2008, with the artwork they produce being installed after Model for a Hotel 2007 has been taken down.
