STANFORD CONSTRUCTS BUILDING FOR ANDERSON COLLECTION

Mike Boehm for the Los Angeles Times reports that Stanford University announced plans to construct a $30.5 million museum in order to house its recently acquired Anderson collection. The New York–based Ennead Architects firm has been selected to construct the 30,000-square-foot building. The Anderson collection includes Jackson Pollock’s 1947 Lucifer, Willem de Kooning’s mid-1950s Woman Standing – Pink, and pieces by Ellsworth Kelly, Mark Rothko, Franz Kline, among others. The construction will accompany the $85 million Burton and Deedee McMurty building, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, which is scheduled to be finished in late 2015.
