Stuart Croft, a London-based artist and filmmaker, has passed away. Croft was on the faculty at the Royal College of Art. There, he founded the Royal College of Art Moving Image Studio.
A visiting lecturer at institutions spanning from Goldsmiths College to Parsons, Croft has had his work shown in solo screenings and exhibitions at venues such as the Tate Modern’s Starr Auditorium, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp, and Platform China in Beijing. His art has been reviewed in Artforum and The Guardian, whose art critic Adrian Searle wrote of the pleasure inherent in “Croft’s continual creation and dismantling of illusion.”
