Susan O’Malley’s Friends and Family Complete Planned Berkeley Mural in Her Memory

Over the weekend of March 7 and March 8, friends and family of artist Susan O’Malley completed a hand-lettered mural along San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley, reports the San Francisco Chronicle’s Sam Whiting. “Less Internet More Love,” reads the artwork. O’Malley, who’d conceived of the mural, died last month at age thirty-eight, as noted here.

Her Berkeley mural is part of “Print Public,” a group exhibition pairing artists and students at the College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley.

Amanda Curreri, project curator on behalf of the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, said “It meant so much to have a living way to be with Susan and her work.”

Wrote Whitling: “People on the street are driving by, honking their horns and shouting, ‘Love!’”
