Susanna V. Temkin Joins El Museo del Barrio as Curator

El Museo del Barrio, the New York institution dedicated to Latino and Latin American culture, has named Susanna V. Temkin curator. Temkin joins the institution from the Americas Society, where she was assistant curator. Previously, she worked as a curatorial intern at El Museo del Barrio under former chief curator Deborah Cullen-Morales.

“We are delighted to have Susanna join our growing curatorial team,” executive director Patrick Charpenel said in a statement. “I am confident she will build upon El Museo’s established relationships with Latinx and Latin American artists, and grow our scholarly contribution in these areas.”

Prior to working at the Americas Society, Temkin served as the research and archive specialist at Cecilia de Torres, Ltd., where she coauthored the digital catalogue raisonné of artist Joaquín Torres-García, and curated an exhibition of sculptures by the Argentinean New York–based artist Marta Chillindron at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts in 2014. Temkin also coauthored the chronology featured in Concrete Cuba: Cuban Geometric Abstraction from the 1950s (David Zwirner Books, 2016) with Abigail McEwen.
