Takashi Murakami and Louis Vuitton to End Collaboration

“The oughties are officially deceased,” writes Jezebel’s Julianne Escobedo Shepherd. Shepherd reports that Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami will bring their collaboration to a close by the end of this month.

The collaboration, which began in 2003, featured Murakami’s colorful version of the Vuitton logo, alongside playful characters, on the company’s merchandise.

The brand says it prefers to “look forward,” according to Shepherd. She points out that creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, who replaced Marc Jacobs in the role in 2013, has otherwise remained silent about the decision.
