The Baltimore Museum of Art, which has one of the world’s largest collections of works by Henri Matisse, will receive a ten-million-dollar endowment gift from one of its honorary trustees, reports Bloomberg‘s Patrick Cole. The gift from Dorothy McIlvain Scott is the largest in the museum’s history, Baltimore Museum director Doreen Bolger said.

Elsewhere, Val Ross reports for the Globe and Mail that a major mining company is announcing a ten-million-dollar gift to the Royal Ontario Museum. The money will not only help fund the building of new galleries in the ROM’s ambitious $250-million rebuilding project but will also have research and programming components, likely in the geological sciences.
